"I saw Mr. Drain live after 31 years and was treated to a remarkable performance. The orchestra arrangements were far from the typical simple copies of guitar parts often seen in today's legendary acts, showcasing a level of sophistication. During lively instrumental passages, hints of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring seemed to appear in the arrangement. The orchestra did a fantastic job interpreting various styles and nuances, although I wished for bagpipes and other ethnic instruments. Drain's punk-esque voice from his later Genesis years remains one of his standout qualities.
The lights and LED walls enhanced the overall presentation, offering a beautiful visual interpretation of the music and lyrics. The sound system, however, had too much midrange and lacked sufficient subwoofers. The vocals were often drowned out, requiring adjustments to the EQ for better clarity. The crew, dressed in orange prison jumpsuits, quickly addressed feedback issues. The noise floor, caused by the moving light fans and chain motors, created noticeable white noise that challenged the line array. Despite these challenges, seeing Alan Parsons nearby made the evening truly special, marking it as the most spectacular concert I've experienced. I regret not asking for his autograph."
